About Us
The Keller family business first opened it’s doors in 1927 when
Ernest Keller, Sr. began providing school bus transportation for the
Charles County Public School system. Both of his sons, Ernest Jr. and
Edwin worked with their father learning the business from the ground up.
In 1956, 20 year old Ernest Jr. opened his own business. Like his
father, he provided school bus transportation to the Charles County
Public Schools. In 1968, Ernest Jr. wanted to expand the company’s
services and purchased the first motor coach, a used GMC 4104. Thus
began Keller’s private motor coach charter service. It took ten
years, but in 1978, Ernest Jr. was able to purchase a brand new
motor coach, an MCI MC8.
In 1991, the business was incorporated as Keller Transportation,
Inc. and in 1993, Keller was awarded its first State of Maryland
contract to provide commuter bus service from Charles and St. Mary’s
County to Washington DC. One year later, Keller was awarded a second
State of Maryland contract to provide commuter bus service from
Calvert County to Washington DC.
Today, Keller Transportation, Inc. dba Keller Bus Service is a familiar staple of the Southern Maryland community. Ernest Jr. is the President of the company and as tradition would have it, sons Ernest III and Charles manage the day to day operations. Keller continues to provide school bus transportation for the Charles County Public Schools, commuter bus services for the State of Maryland and offers private charter services from coast to coast.
